Growing up, I wish I had a sister or a best friend who lived down the street who I could just talk to or confide in. Since that wasn't an option available to me, I wrote. I filled up several journals and when the computer era boomed, I started writing my journal entries on Word. Eventually I typed up and saved all of my book journal entries on a floppy disk (remember those??). If you're wondering, I'm an 80's baby, so I'm getting to the age where I start sentences with "Remember back when...." and "Man, this generation..."
I stopped writing when I started college. I wrote a few entries here and there, mainly when I had major drama going on. I should have wrote more and I always wanted to but I never felt disciplined enough to do it.
So why start now? Well, its the 2nd snow day of the week and I think I will go stir crazy soon if I don't do something vaguely intellectually stimulating. Since I don't have much work to do, Facebook is no longer entertaining me, and I didn't get a chance to run to the local library to grab some good books before the storm, this was the next best idea. And I have to say, its probably one of the best ideas yet =) (I'm big on smiley faces)
So what will I write about? Anything really. I'll try not to vent about work but its quite possible I could. But at the same time I'm afraid that I may say too much one day and be one of those teachers on the news who is fired due to some incident on the internet. I love watching movies, I love cooking, and I'm not a fashionista but I definitely appreciate fashion. Of course there are those personal topics, questioning life and those occasional fleeting thoughts about nothing. I know that I'm probably going to be the only follower of this blog. So what's the point of writing it? Because in 20 years, I'm going to love myself for doing it. I just hope that I can keep up with it!
